Friarhome Deurne

When walking through Deurne I noticed this abandoned building. I do admit I love to be able to visit one on the inside in time, but it has to be safe for me as well so I focus on the outside. Like this Friar house.

It was designed in 1895 by Sir Bekkers from Tilburg, and constructed by Lutters en Van de Mortel. In 1896 the first friar’s came to live in the house, and started a Catholic school for boys. After the second war the building was modernized. In 1987 the friarie was closed, the friars were relocated.

From 1987 till 2015 there were no potential buyers, in 2015 it was sold only to fall in further decay due to bad ownership and conflicts.
